Le célèbre ophtalmologiste d'Angers, auteur de remarquables travaux sur la chirurgie de l'Oeil étudie ici la Cataracte Capsulaire (Cataracte de la membrane du Cristallin) variété mal connue: très-fréquente selon Scarpa et Dupuytren, inexistente selon Malgaigne. Mirault démontre que cette forme d'opacité capsulaire est bien réelle mais peu fréquente. Rares rousseurs. ‎
