(mm. 110x77), elegante legatura mod. in p. pelle stile seicentesco, decoraz. oro ai piatti e al dorso a cordoni, pp. 274 (mal num. 272, omesse nella numeraz. le pp. 193-194.), con un bel frontespizio figurato e 46 deliziose tavole di emblemi inc. in rame, eseguite da Carolus Blancus, tutte nel testo. L'opera è introdotta da una lettera dedicatoria alla Madre Angelica Lucrezia Maria Sfondrati (priora del Convento di S. Paolo) e a Papa Urbano VIII. Al colophon: Mediolani, Typis Philippi Ghisulfij Anno 1633. Cfr. 1628 couverture rigide Louvain, H. Hastenius, 1628. Un volume in-24 (10 x 6 cm), reliure plein veau fauve de l'époque, dos à nerfs orné, roulette dorée sur les coupes, coiffe supérieure arasée, quelques petites galeries de vers, coins légèrement émoussés, exemplaire qui baille un peu. 12 feuillets non chiffrés dont le titre gravé, 190 (2) pages, illustrées de 44 figures gravées en taille douce d'emblèmes, quelques mouillures, intérieur légèrement passé, manquent 2 planches (n°22 et n°34), manquent les pages 85-86, 135-136, 137-138. Ex-libris de Louis Ferrand contrecollé à la page de garde. Une édition identique décrite par LANDWEHR (Low Countries) n° 378, Anvers 1636. Malgré les défauts signalés, exemplaire intéressant.

Antverpiae (Antwerpen), Joannes Baptista Verdussen, 1740, sm. in-8°, 416 pp, 45 copper engravings, Bound in full brown morocco, with blind-tooled covers and spine, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. The binding is signed by A. Despierres rel. de l'Empereur (bookbinder of Napoleon III). 18th century edition of this very popular emblematical work of poetry. The engravings are by Boetius à Bolswert. The first edition was from 1624. Nicely preserved copy in an interesting binding.

Uncut copy. 18th century edition of this very popular emblematical work of poetry. The engravings are by Boetius à Bolswert. The first edition was from 1624. Lacks the copperengraved frontispiece.
