Coxe recounts (from 1745 on) the principal Russian discoveries and explorations made in northwestern America in their attempts to open communications with Alaska and the Aleutia Islands. The voyages and discoveries of Nevodsikoff, Serebranikoff, Trapesnikoff, Drusinin, Korovin, Glottoff, Solovioff, Krenitzin, Levasheff, Synd, Bering, Shalauroff, and several others are included.. Coxe made suggestions which led the Russians to promote expeditions of discovery to the northern parts of Siberia.
