Pritzel 5411. – DSB VIII, 374. – Wiener Nachdruck der sechsten Auflage (Stockholm 1764) mit neuem Vorwort von 20. Dez. 1763. Gegenüber der früheren Ausgaben auf 1239 Genera erweitert. Das wichtige Grundlagenwerk moderner wissenschaftlicher Botanik erschien erstmals 1737 in Leiden und verzeichnete 935 Genera. – Mit alten handschr. Besitzereinträgen auf dem Vorsatz und dem ersten weissen Blatt. Papier durchgehend etwas gebräunt. Einband berieben und bestossen. Rücken mit Einrissen und vorderes Gelenk angeplatzt.

Contemporary sprinkled calf, spines with 4 raised bands, gilt lettered & numbered on red morocco labels (spines slightly rubbed, top and bottom of spines slightly damaged; corners slightly rubbed), red sprinkled edges.
Pritzel, 5441; Soulsby 322. This so-called Edition Octavo is in fact the 9th edition and was the last to be published in the 18th century. Some scattered foxing and/or light browning, but a very acceptable copy of this fundamental botanical text in a rare edition. With the engraved bookplate of Sir Thomas Bar.
