Edition originale, tirage limité à 1200 exemplaires numérotés, état neuf. Environ 300 pages, 429 reproductions.$Edgar Chahine, artiste d"origine arménienne, né à Vienne [Autriche] en 1874, naturalisé français en 1925, affermit sa vocation artistique à Venise où il étudia quelques années avant de venir se fixer définitivement à Paris. En 1900, ses gravures lui valurent une médaille d"or à l"Exposition Universelle de Paris, puis en 1903 une autre à la Biennale de Venise. Décédé en 1947, il laisse une oeuvre importante de plus de 800 gravures et quelques 300 peintures pastels et dessins. La puissance de son trait et son sens aigu de l"observation en font un exceptionnel témoin de son temps. [Camille Mauclair]. Parallèlement à sa carrière artistique, il a beaucoup milité avec son ami le poète Archag Tchobanian, tous deux socialistes romantiques, pour la reconnaissance de l"Arménie, soutenus par des personnalités comme Anatole France, Jaurès ou Clemenceau
