‎2 works bound together:- CHIFFLETIUS, Ioannes Iacobus (1588-1660): Insignia gentilitia equitum ordinis Velleris Aurei, fecialium verbis enuntiata.Antverpiae, ex officina Plantiniana, 1632, 16 leaves, title with engraved heraldic vignette (coat of arms of the knights belonging to the Order of the Toison d'Or), and full-page engraved emblem-plate + 120 p. (of 232 + 7 leaves), with parallel text in French and Latin, decorated with a few initials and tail vignettes, fairly crisp,Bound with:- WEERDT, Iodocus de (urbis Antverpianae syndico):Parnassi bicipitis de pace Vaticinia, chronographicis, retrogradis, acrostichis, & anagrammatis explicata. Libri duo: quorum prior est de Inducijs Belgicis (Concordiae Belgicae panegyricus Parnassicus), posterior de rebus tempore Induciarum gestis.‎

‎Antverpiae (Antwerp), ex officina Plantiniana, (colophon: ...) Balthasaris Moreti, 1626, in-8vo, 128 p., title with engraved printer's device, 8 pages with woodcut figures showing inscriptions + 2 leaves, last leaf with engraved printer's device, a few initials, browning to a few leaves, engraved heraldic bookplate of the ‘Bibliothèque du Chasteau d'Ancy le Franc’, hw. former owner's names of first endpaper (part of it stricken through), full calf binding on raised bands, gilt simple line frames on spine both covers, both covers with gilt coat of arms of "Lille, Collégiale de Saint-Pierre" in Flandres, hw. title on top of spine, some staining and rubbing, a few small scratches to front cover, possibly one or more leaves were taken out at the beginning of the volume, gilt edges.‎

‎Heraldic binding for two works, the first one of these being incomplete. «Insignia gentilitia». The first part of this heraldic work, in which Chiffeletius gives the descriptions of all coats of arms of the knights of the Toison d'Or. This volume contains the preliminaries, and chapter 1-5, plus the first two pages of chapter 6. The author, born in Besançon, was physician to the Spanish king Philippe II, who charged him to write the history of the "Toison d'Or". He was also first physician to the archiduchess Isabelle-Claire-Eugénie, souvereign of the Netherlands. «Parnassi bicipitis de pace Vaticinia». According to the title page the author of this work, Jodocus de Weerdt, was mayor of the city of Antwerp. However, in a recent study on mayors of Antwerp through the centuries, with complete list of names, Jodocus de Weerdt is not mentioned. This second work is dedicated to Alberto et Isabellae Clarae Eugeniae, to whom the author of the first work, Chiffletius, was first physician. Graesse VII/428. Olivier pl. 1228, nr. 2. Image disp.‎

‎ Halae (Halle), Magdeburgicae Sumptibus Bibliopolii Novi apud Felicem du Serre, 1717, 2 parties reliées en 1 volume petit in-4 de 210x175x50 mm environ, 1f.blanc, 14 ff.(titre-frontispice gravé, titre imprimé, epistola, Benevole Lector, Praefatio, Epistola Leibnitiana, Series Librorum), 374-464 pages, 42ff. (index), 1f.blanc, pleine basane marbrée fauve, dos à nerfs portant titres dorés sur pièce de titre havane, orné de caissons à riches motifs dorés, tranches rouges, un ex-libris sur le premier contreplat. Des rousseurs et pages brunies avec mouillures très claires par endroits, des erreurs de pagination deuxième partie du volume, sur les cahiers Uuu uu et Xxx xx (p.336 pagination rétablie p.353) sans manque, cuir fortement épidermé avec petits manques de matière sur les coiffes coupes et coins. Ouvrage en latin comprenant 4 cartes dépliantes. ‎

‎Jacques-Charles Spener est un érudit allemand, historien et juriste, né le 1er février 1684 à Francfort-sur-le-Main et mort le 12 juin 1730 à Wittemberg. Notitia Germaniae antiquæ ; Halle, 1717, in-4° : quoique tout ne soit pas approfondi dans cet ouvrage, il est utile pour connaître l'ancienne Germanie.
