Percy Bysshe Shelley est un des grands romantiques anglais, qui en bon romantique anglais mourut jeune (à seulement 30 ans). Notre exemplaire est ici enrichi de 31 gravures sous serpentes, dont 8 en couleurs, provenant d'autres ouvrages anglais. En frontispice se trouve ainsi un portrait de Shelley datant de 1833. La reliure fut commandée par le libraire Brentano (pour lui-même ?) à New York au relieur Bayntun à Bath. Celui-ci, installé en 1894 dans l'atelier de Riviere, a signé en bas du contreplat et a indiqué Brentano. New York en haut. Reliure signée Georges Bayntun, plein maroquin rouge, dos à nerfs orné, plats décorés de filets dorés et d'une plaque à froid, tranches dorées. Dos légèrement insolé, papier assez épais, très léger jaunissement général. Superbe exemplaire, "extra illustrated".
