They have been essential parts of a speculative investigation carried on across a wide front along with the production of films, operas and novels. This book provides a serious study of Greenaway's artwork and is published to accompany the 1999 retrospective exhibition of his work organised by the Province of East Flanders. It contains an analysis of the key themes and moments in the artist's career, a lengthy interview with the artist, a full reference section and 115 illustrations, with 101 in colour.
