Dans ce catalogue, Pierre Daquin réfléchit sur la notion de pli, révélateur de "l'âme" de l'objet par les différences entre endroit et envers, l'alternance des trames, la création de ruptures... Artiste né en 1936, reçu premier au concours d'admission de la Manufacture des Gobelins, enseignant à l’École des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg, il fonde son atelier de licier à Noisy-le-Roy en 1965, mettant en oeuvre des recherches de matières et de techniques, élaborant une grammaire stylistique spécifique. Il s'établit ensuite à Paris : dans l'Atelier St Cyr se réalise le tissage d'oeuvres de Delaunay, Gleb, Tourlières, Grau-Garriga, Vasarely, Picasso, Klee... De 1970 à 1985, il expose son travail au sein de célèbres institutions (Galerie La Demeure, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Musée d’art moderne de Paris, Galerie de la Tapisserie et de l’art textile de Beauvais...). En 2008, le musée d’Angers lui consacre une exposition monographique de ses peintures.
